Noah's binkie was getting worn down. He had chewed a hole through it and little pieces had started coming off resulting in him swallowing them. We threw away that binkie and gave him the only one we had left (at least to my knowledge). He was not a fan of the leftover binkie but in place of the other one used it anyway. Over the weekend we accidentally left the last binkie at Grandma's house. We could have turned around to get it, but I decided it would be a good time to just get rid of it with no giving in. It is definitely time. He talks with it in his mouth, and you can't understand what he is saying. I feel he is old enough to not "need" it anymore as well.
The first night when we put him down to go to bed he cried a little, yelled a little, but nothing too extreme (not sobbing his little heart out), and so I let him come into our room and watch a "moo-mee" (movie) on t.v. with us for a bit because that was his request HaHa. I guess that cuddle time did him good because when I took him back into his room to put him down again he didn't cry...he suprisingly went to sleep with no bink and no tears! Later on that night or early morning, he woke up and fussed a bit for his binkie. I covered him up, offered in a drink, and reminded him we don't have the binkie, and after a few minutes of crying he went back to sleep. Definitely a lot better night than I expected.
The next day he fell asleep watching t.v., and I put him down for his nap after he had fallen asleep. Last night he again went to bed with no tears and no binkie after some cuddle time in our bed. He did fuss (barely) once in the middle of the night, so I went in and had him get back on his pillow and covered him up, and he went back to sleep no problems.
Today's nap was a bit more difficult. He cried for a bit, and it broke my heart hearing him continually yell "mommy, come back!" But I knew he would give in to slumber soon and he did.
We might have a few more difficult days and nights, but so far the fight has not been nearly as bad as I anticipated. I feel lucky for that. :)
My Little Mister is turning into such a big boy every day. So in honor of that I say "Bye-Bye Binkie!"

So glad it's not been too bad on you, or him! That just means he was ready to get rid of it too, right? :)
Way to go Noah! And mom and dad! :) We just got rid of Reece's a few weeks ago, too. It wasn't near as bad as I was expecting!
