Every year the Owlz do a "First Pitch Dinner" where host families and season ticket holders are invited. It's the kick-off for the new season, and a Thank You to the host families, season ticket holders, and fans. They have a nice catered dinner and a guest speaker from the Angel's organization. This year they had Mr. Scoiscia! Unbelieveable!! He only agreed to speak at the dinner if they set something up for the kids. (Seriously awesome!) So they had a "clinic" during the day where he talked to the kids and taught them a lot about hitting. Again so awesome! (I wish I would have known beforehand so I could have told my nephews about it! Once in a lifetime opportunity!)
They did a meet-and-greet before the dinner where we were able to meet Mike. We mentioned we were Darren O'Day's host family the year he played for the Owlz, and he let us know he will tell D to get back in contact with us HaHa! Awesome! He was a super nice guy, totally genuine.
It was awesome to hear him talk and tell his story of how he got into baseball. He also made a point to talk about how important host families are in shaping a player and getting them in the Majors, and about how they are so appreciated all the way from the head people in the Angel's organization. It was a really great "speech" and such a fun night!
(Don't mind my ug hair, I ran out of time getting ready! :( )

That is so awesome! Where you guys shaking and nervous when you met him? That is how we were when we met Terry Francona! And you guys could have come with us too, but Marc could not get ahold of Stephen!!
Good times, I am glad you were able to go, it sounds like it was cool!
Just looking over your blog and noticed those adorable cupcakes!! Those are so creative! I love it! The LOVE letters are really cute too!
Amy - We weren't really nervous, but I think it's because he just naturally puts you at ease. He is really nice. I would be shaking if I met Terry Francona though!! ..Stephen knew he was in SLC he just wasn't able to make it up there due to work. His co-worker went and got something signed for us though! You guys are so sweet thinking of us! :)
Melissa, Thanks!! :)
