I am late (again) in doing Everett's monthly update. He has his 6-month well-child doctor appointment next week, so I will post his 6-month update then.
Another failing mommy moment, Tuesday morning after I nursed Everett, I decided to reset my alarm so I could sleep for a few more minutes before getting Noah up to get him ready for school (only 15 minutes longer..but hey, 15 extra minutes can mean a lot to a tired mommy!). I never heard my alarm go off (slept through it I guess) and snapped to life, looked at the clock, and it said 9:15..the time when Noah's school starts. They were going on their first field trip that day, so I ran to the window and looked across the street to where he goes to school and everyone was still there so I hurried and called his teacher and asked if I could just drive him to where they were going, she said yes and gave me directions. I tried numerous times to quickly get Noah up and ready, but he kept insisting he didn't want to go (he was tired). I finally gave up because I didn't want to fight him and have it turn into a big ordeal, and we were running out of time to be there in enough time to really participate, and I called my mom and Stephen crying that I had caused Noah to miss his very first field trip. He eventually got up and wanted to go, which I knew he would once he realized what was going on, and that made me feel even worse. He got over it quickly, like really quickly, but I still feel bad. I should have just stayed up and went back to sleep after Noah was off to school. He missed out on going to the Big Red Barn, where they rode a tractor to the pumpkin patch, did some other fun things, and got a donut at the end. I know he would have had so much fun! ...I know we can take him there anytime, but it's not the same, it would have been so fun for him to go with his classmates! ....Mom fail for sure!
I won't be making that mistake again, especially on a field trip day!

Kris, I know these moments. (Like forgetting it's picture day, missing the first early out day and getting to school 45 min. late). Don't let them get to you... because there will be a lot of them. Just remember the things you have accomplished because those are the things Noah will remember. :)
