Eventful Valentine's Day

So, around 5 on Monday I started having contractions. They started out a bit sporadic, but quickly turned rhythmic/regular. They were not painful at first, but gradually got more and more uncomfortable as time went on. Finally when they were coming at every 2 to 5 minutes apart, I figured it best to call the doctor's office after hours clinic to see what I should do. They told me to head straight to Labor and Delivery at the hospital.

Once at the hospital I felt like my contractions had kind of subsided, and that I was wrong in going, and one of those overly-anxious women who head to the hospital at the drop of a hat. Realistically though my contractions were still coming every 6 minuts apart and then graduated to every 2 minutes apart and stayed there.

Unbeknownest to me, when the nurses called my doctor they thought I was really going into labor because my contractions were pretty strong and close together and they said I was spotting (which I did not notice). My doctor had done a cervical exam earlier in the day, and that is why I was spotting a little, and they also think that is what triggered my contractions. My doctor told them to give me a shot that would stop the contractions and a Percocet to help my body relax to aid in stopping the contractions as well. It worked and the contractions were stopped. The nurse told me to take it easy, no picking up Noah, doing any housework, etc. Basically just rest as much as I can. She said if I start contracting again to head in to get them stopped. If I were to continue contracting they would continue to stop them until I am 36 weeks, and then they would just let me go. I will be 35 weeks tomorrow, so when this all happened it would have been for a week and a few days I would need to continue to get them stopped if they started up again. They told me also that if they kept coming back they would give me a prescription that I would take 4 times a day to help keep them from coming.

Yesterday Noah and I came up to my mom's house again, so I could have help with Noah and so that I could rest. At around noon I started contracting, and it soon turned into regularly contracting again. I tried the things the nurse said to do before coming in to see if i could get them to go away. I laid down, took a warm bath, drank a lot of water, and just tried to relax. They were not going away, so I called into my doctor's office. The "nurse" (I think he is only a CNA actually) I talked to there didn't really know what to tell me because he said he was new, and my doctor was out of the office, his only advice was to come in and see the doctor who was doing urgent care that day. I called Labor and Delivery thinking they would be more knowledgeable about it and was put on hold forever, so while on hold I asked my mom to call my doctor's office and see if my doctor was out for the whole day or was just out to lunch when I called. Luckily he was just out to lunch when I had called, so we decided to just head into his office as he would be back by the time we got there. He checked me and I was still not dilating (if I was it was hardly at all), and I still have a ways to go to be completely effaced, so basically these contractions aren't doing anything, and I'm not actually in labor. He told me to come see him next week, or if I started contracting a lot again to just come right in and get checked. So I have an appointment for Tuesday, and I hope that I won't have to see him until then. ;)

I do not want to be in labor this early, baby still needs time inside, but it is really frustrating to have contractions that aren't doing anything. I wish they would just go away HaHa. Hopefully baby decides to stay in at least a couple more weeks! I would really like to make it to at least 37 weeks, then I would feel more comfortable with him coming if he decided to.
We will see what happens!

How exhausting! I just thought I should check to see what was going on because I would like to take some formula to your mom's if you would like it. It's for Newborns( up to 3 mo). 4 bottles ready to feed and one can of powder. Let me know if you want it.. if I don't hear from you I will just drop it by her house. We'll keep you and baby x in our prayers!

Oh Julane you are so sweet! Thank you! ..I have been meaning to run that money up to you for my hair. I feel so horrible, I'm like 3 weeks late getting it to you! :( It's not a good excuse, but I have pregnancy brain.
If you drop it by today (Thursday the 17th or tomorrow Friday/the 18th) I will be here. Thanks for thinking of us to give it to!

Ugh! Good luck in keeping those contractions under control! That must be frustrating. It will be exciting when Baby decided to come, though!
