More Potty Training

Yesterday was a fabulous day, so I just wanted to note it!
No accidents, went in on his own without reminding almost every time but one or two times, and went poop on the potty!!!! YAY! :)

We went to the Dollar Store yesterday, and I let Noah pick out some prizes for going poop on the potty. He was a little unhappy when I had to put all his fun toys up, but I just kept reminding him that he could earn them when he went poop on the potty, just as he earned his Percy flashlight. At one point when I was reminding him of that, he kind of bent over a bit and started to grunt HaHa...like he was trying to poop, it was hilarious (I thought it was anyway)! (Of course I reminded him then too that he had to poop on the potty to get them!) He tried to get them out of me after he went pee on the potty, but I was able to distract him each time with a small treat for that once, or by just getting him to go back to playing or drawing his attention elsewhere.

Noah usually runs around during dinner. He will take a few bites and then get up and run around, just being silly. Last night was no different, except he started running out of my sight and kind of "hiding" in places, like between the loveseat and wall and down in the hall. At one point when he ran down the hall I thought I heard a little grunting noise (HaHa! Sorry makes me giggle). I reminded him that if he goes poop on the potty he gets to pick out one of his prizes/toys. Then I asked him if he needed to go potty and he said yes. I helped him get situated and then left the bathroom, as he had kept asking me/telling me to "go out" while we were in there. A tiny bit later I heard him shout "Woohoo! I did it!" so I went in to check on him and sure enough he had gone! He then very excitedly picked out his prize!

Some may call it bribery, I am calling it motivation. The treats for going pee on the potty didn't last very long at all once he got the hang of going, so I am hoping that will be the case for "number two". With potty training in general being such a big life change for him, I don't think a little bit of motivation (that he can truly understand and be motivated by) hurts any.
If he is still asking for prizes when they run out, we will just move to small treats for a couple days, then those will also gradually disappear. I don't think that he will continue to expect a prize once he's gotten this part down as well, as that is how the other went.

So he didn't tell me he had to go poop at first, but I don't expect that to happen. Now that this is our focus, hopefully that won't be too far off. Either way, I'm just excited that he did, and I'm excited that he was so proud of himself as well! I am sure proud of him! :)

**Edited to add that Noah woke up with a dry diaper yesterday morning, too! That was another great point of yesterday! ..He actually woke up dry this morning as well! If he keeps it up he can soon move to big boy underwear at night instead of diapers!
