I am glad for the opportunity the Thanksgiving holiday gives us to reflect upon those things in which we have to be grateful for. Showing gratitude should be a year-long occurrence, but it is nice to have a little reminder, as sometimes the trials and hardships find a way of shadowing our focus from thankfulness.
I could make a very long list of the things I am thankful for, but I will just sum it up in saying: I am so very thankful that I have so much to be thankful for!
The details of our Thanksgiving Day/weekend I am going to share, however.
The night before Thanksgiving Stephen got our table painted black and finished recovering the pink cushions with a light brown/tan suede material. We have wanted to do that for quite awhile, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! It looks beautiful!
Thanksgiving day I got up around 7 and put the turkey in. I have cooked a turkey before, but this was my first Thanksgiving turkey, so the pressure was on! ;) We got the house cleaned up and the table set, and then we waited for Stephen’s family to arrive. Once they were all here, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, and my turkey turned out pretty great I think. Everyone’s contribution food wise was wonderful and delicious! After dinner a few took a nap, and the rest of us played card games. Noah and Maggie had a great time playing with each other, and they pretty much entertained each other which allowed us adults to just relax. It was a nice, relaxing afternoon!
Later on we made our way up to my mom’s house so that we could spend some time with my side of the family also. We had pie and visited with everyone. It was so great to spend time with the fam! Noah had playmates the entire day, which he absolutely loved! He was completely worn out by the end of the first day of the long weekend. I think he is still recovering HaHa.
We ventured out on Black Friday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…and a little shopping/browsing. We started the day at IHOP, ate at Chick-fil-A for lunch, and ended the night at Wingers. A lot of eating out that day…probably not the best decision. We went all around Utah County looking for Christmas lights…well specific red and white, or red, green, and white, or green and red lights. ;) We had no luck, so Stephen ran to Sprinkler World on Saturday and got what we (well really what I was) wanting. Saturday he got the lights on the house. Unfortunately, after all his hard work, they are not working. Sadness.
We picked up a new, really great camera the weekend before Thanksgiving (YAY!!)because our old one is lost, but for some reason I can't get the pictures to upload on Blogger right now. I will try again later!
