Ward Newsletter Spotlight

After 4 years of living here, this month our family (finally!) was the spotlight in the Ward Newsletter. Below is our "article" that you would have seen if you received a copy of it! ;) You might recognize some of what I wrote as being familar because I used some of the description I have on our blog.

Our debut article:

"We are the Benson family! Stephen is the oldest of 4 children, and was born and raised in Orem (on the Mountain View side). Kristina is the youngest of 4 children and was born and raised in Pleasant Grove (a true-blue Viking who still loves the Purple Turtle and Taco Amigo).
Our story began in 2001 when we met through a mutual friend at Club Omni in Provo (are we really admitting that?!) We started off as great friends, casually dated a little, but went our separate ways to date others exclusively for awhile. At the end of 2002 we rekindled our friendship and casual dating relationship. In '03 we started dating exclusively, and that lead to our marriage in the Mt. Timpanogos temple in May of '04. We lived in a little apartment in Provo for a year before moving to our home in Spanish Fork. We have been in the ward now for 4 years in May. We began trying to start our family shortly after moving here, and after what felt like a long and trying period in our lives we conceived a few days after Kristina’s father passed away. We feel that Grandpa sent our little angel down to us. On December 13, 2007 Noah was born, and he has been an amazing source of light, happiness, and strength for us and our family, since that first sign of conception!
Together we enjoy: Being together as a family, spending time with our extended family and friends, attending sporting events (we are Orem Owlz season ticket holders), and being outdoors. We share a passion for the adrenaline rush that only a machine in the outdoors can offer, through snowmobiling and offroading in our/Kristina’s Jeep. ;)
Stephen is the breadwinner of the family as he oversees production and is part owner at a cabinet shop in Lindon (Chateau Cabinets.) Outside of work he enjoys watching TV. eating at Chick-fil-a, working on projects around the house or building things just for fun, and serving in his calling as Assistant Scout Master. Though he is the disciplinarian, and despite the “rumors,” he loves the boys he serves over. Stephen is the outgoing one and got our family noticed with his awesome dance moves at the ward’s adult dance several years ago. He is known for his sense of humor and for doing almost anything to make others laugh!
Kristina is a stay-at-home mom doing online college courses to certify in Medical Transcription, so as to be able to work from home someday. Ultimately she would like to earn a Paralegal degree (someday.) She loves being a wife and mother, eating, shopping, anything with chocolate and peanut butter, blogging, popcorn, watching hockey, and vacationing in Moab! She also enjoys her calling as Assistant Secretary in the Primary Presidency. She has loved getting to know all of the wonderful kids of the ward, and working alongside such amazing sisters!
Noah is 15 months old and is all boy! He loves cars (complete with his own sound effects), balls, playing outside, and going to Grandma’s. He absolutely loves books, and after sneaking away can often be found “reading” his books in his room. He is always so happy and likes to be silly! He loves to entertain everyone and make them laugh (he gets that from his dad!) Even at this young age he likes watching sports on TV and will clap along with the crowd. He is a typical 15-month-old with never-ending energy! We enjoy being parents to him more than anything!"

A couple sentences got left out of the very end in the Newsletter, but it turned out pretty cute I think! I know it's kind of long, but it is hard to write out all the "important" details in short! ;)

So cute! What a neat way for your ward to get to know each other (even though it took four years for your turn!)
