Happy, Happy Birthday Noah dear!

Noah turned 5 years old! I can hardly believe it!

For his birthday, on the actual day, I took him to McDonald's for lunch so he could go inside since he is always begging to do that, and I wanted to take him to do something he thought was fun. Then that night he helped me bake his birthday cake, he and Everett decorated it, and then we sang to him and he blew out his candles. He also had school that day, so he took cookies for a treat and got a birthday crown, and they sang to him in school.
(Pictures of his actual birthday day are on my phone, so I'll have to add those later.)

The weekend following his birthday we had a family party at my mom's. We all had a lot of fun celebrating together, and he was super excited for, and loved, all his gifts that everyone so generously gave.

Even though turning 5 is a pretty recent thing, he has already seemed to grow up in many ways. He seems to be getting a better handle on his emotions and how to appropriately deal with them (of course like all kids he still has his moments, he is still learning after all), and I am so proud of him for that!
-He is REALLY into helping out right now and wanting to do more "adult jobs". When I am cleaning he offers to help, and many times he has asked me, "Mom, what can I do for you?" or "Is there anything I can do for you?". He has also started to show a bigger interest in helping out more when it comes to the actual taking care of Everett, ie: wanting to help wash his hair in the bathtub, helping him put his clothes and shoes on, helping him get his toothbrush ready to brush his teeth, and even wants to help with diaper duty (he would change the diaper if I'd let him, HaHa..but I won't, so for now he will roll the dirty diaper up for me when we're done and also secure the tabs on the diaper).
-He is still a fantastic big brother, thinks of Everett and his needs often whenever he is in the middle of taking care of something for himself, for example when he is getting himself a drink, snack, etc., he will also get one for Everett (they have actually both been really great about this for quite a long time).
-He amazes me everyday with his vocabulary and also his imagination! I love to watch and listen to him playing and acting out stories.
-He tries so hard to say "mature" prayers, and it is cute to listen to him and the things he says (even if they don't really make sense the way he is putting it together, HaHa).
-He still loves playing with friends, and still has his on again off again puppy love romance with Paisley which just cracks me up!
-He still loves to entertain and try to make people laugh, and he is so silly at times..I love it!
-He is such a little smartie! He is recognizing more letters and knows a few letter's sounds. I know he'd know them all if I spent more time focusing on pointing things out and working with him. He writes his name, although not *always* in the correct order or with the letters facing the correct way..but I'm still super proud of him! He picks up on things pretty fast, and I know he could be so much farther (or is it further?) along...I just need to spend more time introducing things to him and focus more on taking advantage of, and creating, teaching moments. He is starting to count and do some math (counting how many are there and then taking a certain amount away or adding a certain amount and then recounting how many are there..yes, that is math for a 5 year old. ;) )

Watching him learn and grow these past 5 years has been incredible! He brings so much joy and happiness to our life and those around him. I wouldn't change a thing, even the difficult moments, because he makes me want to be a better person, and I am a better person for having him in my life. He may sometimes have a big attitude, but he also has a huge heart and is such a sweet little boy! I could not and would not want to imagine life without him! We love our little Noah so much! I can't wait to spend this next year with him and continue to watch him learn and grow and develop into an even more amazing little boy!
