Dear Cancer,
I know we don't know each other, and I hope we never have to personally meet. I have seen the havoc you have caused in the lives of many I love, and I can sincerely say that I hate you. I realize that "hate" is a strong word, but there is no other way for me to put it. Please go away.
Sincerely,
Kristina
**It feels like lately (now more than ever) we are seeing many of those we love having to deal with this devastating disease. It is so heartbreaking, and I wish there was more I could do than sit on the sidelines and watch lives be destroyed, lives of the patient themselves and their families. Sometimes life seems so unfair, and there will always be things I will never understand. I hope and pray that those who are feeling the effects of cancer can find the peace and comfort they need to deal with whatever the outcome. Please keep the Peterson/Morrey/Scorsone/Evans family, the Dodd family, the O'Gwinn family, and the Squires family in your prayers. I know that is a lot to remember, but they are all worth remembering, and they are all dealing with the difficulties of cancer or the outcome in this very moment.
As a wise and very inspiring woman told me, there is always hope, always! I continue to keep that hope in my heart.
And as a side note, if any of you are not on Facebook and have not seen my updates, I am collecting donations (monetary or non-perishable food or household items) to help the Dodd family. Dustin has cancer and has been hospitalized, barely responsive, and has a beautiful, amazing wife and 6 kids ranging from ages 9-4 that are dealing with this sudden event and they can use all the help they can get, as he is the breadwinner of the family and has been able to work for quite some time now.
Also, Sarah O'Gwinn has a blog where you can read her story and donate if you have the desire. Her blog is on my sidebar, it's called "Hope for Sarah". If you want to read wise and inspirational words, she is the one to read them from. She is amazing. I try everyday to have the perspective that she does.
Last but not least, a dear family friend, Carol Peterson, passed away yesterday and her family can use thoughts and prayers of comfort. As can my husband's family, for his Uncle, who just found out some discouraging news in his fight with cancer.
There is always hope. Always. ...Never ever give up!
