Friday Funday!
Just as a precurser, I actually did not stumble upon the blog I mentioned in my last post until about 2 hours ago, so I really feel like I came upon it for a reason, my heart is in the right place, and I had already been thinking many of the issues Hands-Free-Mamma addresses, and/or what she advocates (children coming first).
I had a LONG work day yesterday, and I told myself that today I was going to put all distraction and non-parenting responsibility aside, and just have fun with my boys. We had a lazy start to the day, just laughing and goofing off together, which is a nice change of pace from me barking orders to "hurry up" and do this or that because we need to be somewhere, or because I need to get something done. I can honestly say I noticed a difference in Noah's attitude, he was much easier to parent without the stress of everyday deadlines lingering over us (and me being grumpy because of it!)
After breakfast Noah asked if he could paint, and he was thrilled that I was going to sit down and paint with him, too. We broke out the paint supplies and all three of us painted. I helped Everett, then stuck him in his high chair and let him go at it...he quickly discovered paint does not taste good! (I really tried to keep watch and not let him try to eat it, but he is too quick, HaHa. -It was only a teeny, tiny amount, just fyi.) We painted enough pictures for a mini art gallery, and Noah was impressed with my dinosaurs I painted.
Now covered in paint it was time for a bubble bath, complete with bubbles being blown while they were bathing. After going through the "mommy wash" it was time to get out and have lunch, and then once we were done eating we packed up to go on a bike ride to the park. Played a bit at the park and then took a longer route home.
Once we were home we played outside, both boys mowing the lawn (and/or sidewalk HaHa) with their little lawnmowers. I loved watching Everett toddling/staggering around pushing the little lawnmower! He was not happy when I blocked and redirected his path into the street! Noah had to stop and "fix" his lawnmower a few times, so handy like his dad! ;) It was so nice to be outside and just watch them play, to smile and laugh with them!
Noah was lucky and got to continue his fun and is on the Father and Son's overnight camping trip with our ward. Everett got stuck with me, and he was so tired that he really just wanted to go to bed..so that's where he went and is now, sleeping peacefully.
It was a great day. So nice to have a day that I didn't have to worry about anything but having fun with my little guys! I feel recharged. I love those two more than I can say! ...Their dad isn't so bad either! ;)
