Christmas 2011

Christmas morning we awoke to find that Santa had been here (as evident from all the gifts, and the bite out of the cookie we left him!) We got up and opened presents, had our traditional breakfast, and then went to church (just Sacrament). It was so nice to attend church and focus on the real meaning and spirit of Christmas!

Noah had blast opening presents, and it was so fun to relive the excitment of Christmas through him! Everett opened a few, but Noah insisted that he didn't know how and that he needed to help him, HaHa! Our Christmas was smaller than in the past, but truly it did not matter. The real spirit of Christmas is love and giving anyway, and the greatest gift we could receive we already have been given. :) Of course though Noah loved his presents, and Everett really seemed to like his, too!

I love how magical Christmas is now that I have children, and having Everett there for this Christmas this year just made it that much more special! There is nothing like seeing your children so happy and excited, hearing them laugh, and just having fun together! I wished that we could have stayed in those morning moments all day! I got some pretty great presents, but the best gifts I've ever gotten have to be all my boys..Stephen, Noah, and Everett! Being with them made my Christmas the best!

After church we came home, changed, and headed up to Benson's again. Visited for a bit, opened more presents, and then we went to my mom's house to have dinner with that side of the family. Visited with my family, and then also I went with my mom and sisters to see my Aunt Geneal who is not doing so well (and I hadn't seen her in a very long time). Noah loved playing with all his cousins (on both sides! Everett was a little unsure of all the people he's not used to seeing, but he was a great baby all day! We headed home pretty late, but it was nice to get to see (mostly) everyone!

Christmas was kind of rushed, and we didn't really get much time with just our own little family, and Noah didn't even get any time to play with his new toys. We tried splitting Christmas Eve and Christmas day between both sides of the families (one would get one day and the other side the next day..then we would rotate each year so both sides would get each day, just different years), but that didn't work, so we're going to have to try to figure something else out for next year...it's just too rushed and that makes it hard to really visit and make the most of our time, and we also need time for just us, too. I think next year we will be staying home on Christmas, and whoever wants to come visit will be more than welcome, and we'll have to split Christmas Eve or something. Aside from being rushed, of course it was still a good day!

(You'll have to forgive how I look, I didn't get completely ready for the day, and I look kind of scary! And unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures of both sides of the fam this year..Stephen's side's pics are in the Christmas Eve entry if you were wondering where those were HeHe.)
